As spring blossoms in Taipei, the tech world is gearing up for Computex 2025, Asia’s premier PC-hardware expo, running May 20–23 at the Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 & 2. This year’s theme, “AI Next,” promises cutting-edge breakthroughs in AI & Robotics, Next-Gen Tech, and Future Mobility.
GPU Market: A Continued Tepid Response
Radeon RX 9070 GRE—China Exclusive, Underwhelming Specs
Rumors of a new Radeon RX 9070 GRE did little to spark excitement, and for good reason. AMD’s China-only launch features 372 CUDA cores (14 percent fewer than the 7900 GRE) and just 12 GB of VRAM versus 16 GB, at only a 7 percent discount (4,199 RMB MSRP). Despite AMD’s claim of a 6 percent performance boost, without a global rollout or real price drops, its appeal remains niche.
What’s Next: RX 9060 XT Arrives May 21
For the rest of us, all eyes are on the upcoming Radeon RX 9060 XT. Confirmed for announcement at Computex on May 21, both 8 GB and 16 GB SKUs will ship, quelling earlier rumors of an 8 GB cancellation. Early leaks suggest AMD is prioritizing the 16 GB model, potentially delaying or under-shipping the 8 GB variant in reviewers’ hands.
Nvidia’s “Super” Playbook: More VRAM, More Suffixes
After the mixed reception of the 12 GB 5070 and 16 GB 5080, Nvidia is reportedly prepping “Super” refreshes. Leaks point to an 18 GB 5070 Super and 24 GB 5080 Super, made possible by new 3 GB GDDR7 modules. Core counts and clock speeds remain unconfirmed, and these refreshed cards may not debut until late 2025 or even early 2026.
Market & Trade Brief

Hyte U.S. Shipments Paused: Facing incoming tariffs, PC-case maker Hyte has halted new U.S. orders, fulfilling only existing pre-orders while exploring higher-cost manufacturing in Vietnam and Thailand.
Tech Brief Speedrun
-
GTA VI Delayed to May 26, 2026: Rockstar has officially pushed its next blockbuster out of 2025.
-
RTX 5090 Power Connector Failures: Despite using the recommended MSI 12V2X6 cable on a $3,000–$4,000 GPU, users have reported melty connectors, yet the cards survived.
-
Steam Hardware Survey (April 2025): NVIDIA’s 5080 and 5070 each own 0.38 percent share, with the Ti at 0.28 percent. No RX 9070 or 9070 XT sightings yet.
