The company said the integration is intended to let Autodesk Assistant use Arcadis-specific engineering knowledge alongside information such as geometry, engineering intent and project history, while Arcadis retains ownership of the capabilities it develops.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement does not identify the individual MCP tools Arcadis is exposing or provide technical details such as the underlying data repositories, deployment architecture or whether the connection can directly modify engineering models.<\/p>\n<h2>What the MCP integration changes<\/h2>\n<p>MCP provides a standardized way for compatible AI systems to connect with external tools and data. Autodesk has been expanding its own MCP services across its software platform, with documented MCP capabilities covering areas including AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Fusion. <a href=\"https:\/\/help.autodesk.com\/view\/ADSKMCP\/ENU\/\">Autodesk&#8217;s MCP documentation<\/a> describes the technology as a way for AI applications to discover and use external capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>For Arcadis, the purpose is to make its own engineering knowledge accessible within Autodesk&#8217;s AI environment. The company is contributing domain expertise, standards and guidance rather than relying solely on the information built into Autodesk&#8217;s software.<\/p>\n<p>The arrangement fits Autodesk&#8217;s broader work on Autodesk Assistant. At Autodesk University 2026, the company described an expanded Assistant that can connect project context with tools, agents and external sources. Autodesk also introduced <strong>Assistant Builder<\/strong>, which is designed to allow customers and partners to connect their own AI agents, MCP servers, tools and data to Autodesk workflows.<\/p>\n<p>That broader version of Autodesk Assistant remains in preview. Autodesk said expanded capabilities are expected to begin rolling out in 2027, so the public announcement does not establish that every part of the Arcadis integration is already generally available.<\/p>\n<p>Arcadis and Autodesk have been developing AI applications together before the MCP announcement. In 2025, the companies presented <strong>OTL Optimizer<\/strong>, which combined Arcadis&#8217; standardized 3D model information with Autodesk Assistant.<\/p>\n<p>The system was designed to automate tasks including identifying and extracting information from 3D models, checking data and model quality, making intelligent model adjustments, and generating cost and sustainable-design insights. Autodesk said the approach could reduce manual effort by up to 90 percent in the targeted workflows. Autodesk University described the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/autodesk-university\/class\/Revolutionizing-3D-Model-Workflows-with-AI-APS-Autodesk-Assistant-and-Arcadis-OTL-Optimizer-2025\">OTL Optimizer project<\/a> as a way to make standardized engineering information easier for AI systems to interpret and use.<\/p>\n<p>That earlier work is relevant to the new MCP connection because standardized engineering data gives AI systems structured information to work with, while MCP provides a mechanism for connecting an AI application to external capabilities. The latest announcement extends that model by bringing Arcadis&#8217; own knowledge and standards into Autodesk Assistant.<\/p>\n<p>Arcadis&#8217; announcement also points to measurable results from its wider AI and automation work. One example cited by the company reduced certain quality reviews from five days to approximately half a day. The release does not attribute that specific result to the new MCP integration.<\/p>\n<p>The companies have not disclosed commercial terms, a detailed customer rollout schedule or a complete list of Autodesk products supported by the Arcadis MCP connection.
